Volunteer Orientation

All volunteers must attend a volunteer orientation session before beginning their work with Maxwell Street Legal Clinic.
Through the orientation session, volunteers will become familiar with the purpose and mission of MSLC, as well as its work, staff, confidentiality policy, and volunteer duties.

Volunteer Coordinator- Help coordinate volunteers and volunteer opportunities by leading volunteer training workshops and supervising our amazing volunteers.


Volunteer Opportunities
Some of our volunteer opportunities are listed below:
Volunteer Attorney- Represent low-income clients with immigration matters before immigration agencies and immigration court.
Maxwell Street Office Volunteer- Help with the day-to-day operations of MSLC by answering phones, doing client intake, and special projects.
Document Translator- Translate confidential case documents such as birth, marriage, and divorce certificates.
Citizenship Workshop Volunteer- Help citizenship applicants during a one-day event by filling out citizenship applications.
Civics Class Instructor- Teach U.S. history and government to clients preparing for their citizenship exams.
ESL Tutor- Work one-on-one with adult ESL students to help develop and/or strengthen their language abilities.
Publicity and Media Volunteer- help publicize events, services, and workshops around our community
